Meet some of the Jack Brignall team! (L to R): Zoe Wordsworth (Graduate Radiographer), Junior Ndlovu (Clinical Lead), Sophie Hibbert (Unit Manager), Joel Barter (PET-CT Radiographer), Taylor Eaton (CT Radiographer)
Within your role, what do you do day to day?
As a CQC Registered Manager, I am responsible for leading and managing a team of Radiographers, Clinical Assistants and Administrators to ensure the delivery of a quality service and the highest quality of patient care. This includes ensuring we are fully compliant with all relevant legislation and all Alliance Medical policies and procedures at a local and corporate level.
In collaboration with the NHS Trust we deliver PET-CT scans as part of the cancer pathway and the relationship we hold is vital to achieve turn around times for cancer treatment.
What are the future plans for your centre?
Our centre was built to future proof additional demand of PET-CT. We already have 8 uptake rooms along with 2 scanning rooms and we are looking to add a second scanner in the very near future, which will assist in any future demands for PET-CT and research trials.
What career opportunities have you been presented with during your time at Alliance Medical?
Alliance Medical have a great career development programme, including access to our PET-CT Training Academy which provides courses to further our skills and obtain relevant qualifications. As a Unit Manager, there are various projects we can take advantage of which create opportunities and helps us to improve our own development.
Tell us more about the scanner you use - the Siemens Biograph mCT Flow PET-CT?
The Siemens Biograph mCT Flow PET-CT Scanner enables us to provide some of the best quality imaging and also allows us to scan approximately 22-24 patients per day across a 6 day week service. We can offer a wide range of appointment times to suit patient needs.
Tell us more about your collaboration with Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the Daisy Appeal charity.
We have an excellent relationship with the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, together with the Northern, Lincolnshire and Gool NHS Trust who have recently joined together as one Trust. We work collaboratively together to deliver a service for our patients to ensure that we are meeting turn around times for cancer pathways and we also welcome the need for research trials. We currently have a number of research trials we are helping to deliver, with more exciting trials yet to come and we're thrilled to be part of these.
How do you like to unwind after a busy day?
I have a cockerpoo who is a little crazy and after a busy day I love to get home and take him for a long, much needed walk.
What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
I am a mum to 2 teenage children, so this takes much of my time outside of work but I also like travelling and exploring different culture.
