Our network
In the UK, we deliver imaging services across 46 static sites and 64 mobile scanners. We are a trusted and sustainable partner to the NHS, and also provide private healthcare imaging services for insured and self- funding patients.
We also operate an integrated national network of five radioactive isotope production facilities and an integrated Radiopharmacy distribution channel, supporting PET-CT scanning.
Growth milestones
1989
Alliance Medical was founded in 1989 to provide medical imaging services in the UK.
1994
We set up our first independent static MRI unit in 1994.
2004
First UK diagnostic centre and NHS contract. We expand into Italy and Spain.
2006
We expand into the Netherlands and Germany.
2007
We're acquired by Dubai International Capital, making us the largest independent radiology services company in the world by market capitalisation.
2013
We move into radiopharmaceuticals, and become the only integrated molecular imaging service in the UK.
2014
We win the bid to provide more than 50 percent of NHS PET-CT scans in the UK.
2016
Life Healthcare Group acquire Alliance Medical Group. November 2016.
2017
We invest £80 million on additional static PET-CT sites across the UK. These replace the use of mobile scanners, delivering an improved patient experience and capacity to patients.
2018
Opening of the Turner Diagnostic Centre, a first of its kind, state-of-the-art multimodality Diagnostic Centre. April 2018.
2018
Alliance Medical acquire European Scanning Centres adding capacity to our private patient offering in London Harley St, Manchester and Cardiff. December 2018.
2019
Alliance Medical are awarded a 15 year contract to build a new facility to deliver MRI for Ashford and St Peters NHS Trust. July 2019.

Alliance Medical awarded Investors in People Silver accreditation
2020
Mobile Medical Plus launched in partnership with Expandable Healthcare. First of its kind solution to deliver mobile MRI which expands into a relocatable advanced patient and staff experience. May 2020.

The first UK Digital PET CT centre is built by Alliance Medical at Sidcup. July 2020.

Contract signed for a new Integrated Diagnostic Centre at South Tyneside in partnership with the NHS. December 2020.
2021
Alliance Medical create a Diagnostic Village in Cannock in October 2021 as part of the national Community Diagnostic Centre strategy.

A new Community Diagnostic Centre at Clacton is opened by the Prime Minister as a collaboration between Alliance Medical and East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. October 2021.

Alliance Medical partner with the NHS and Perspectum to open the Oxford Community Diagnostic Centre in Cowley. November 2021.
